One of the most beautiful gorges in Carinthia, the Weißenbachklamm, awaits nature lovers in the Gitschtal.

The small Weißenbachklamm presents itself as wild and romantic. During a hike, you pass through the deep gorge. Numerous well-secured wooden ladders must be overcome – so not for people with fear of heights! However, you are rewarded with magnificent views of nature and rare animal and plant species.

    Author’s recommendation

There are several benches in the gorge for resting and relaxing.

    Roadbook

From the Schlössl Lerchenhof, you first walk through the Gösseringgraben towards Jadersdorf. From Jadersdorf, the village with beautiful flower decorations, we first hike on asphalt on path 210 towards Hermagor/east. Immediately after crossing the stream, we leave path 210 to the left onto path no. 19. Interesting rock formations indicate that the gorge is not far away. We look at beautiful waterfalls tumbling over tuff rock formations. Several footbridges facilitate the way. At the top, the gorge narrows, and high rock steps are overcome via ladders. Hart's-tongue fern is very abundant. After exiting, you can go left via the forest path back to Jadersdorf or right (path 19 a), past the so-called Kappele (a settlement from late antiquity), back to path 210 and back to the starting point.

LG, Andreas nassfeld.at
