Hike from Hotel Hof Weissbad or the Weissbad Lodge towards Seealpsee. Before you reach the lake, turn right onto the path to the Aescher restaurant, where a stop for a typical Appenzeller lunch is worthwhile. Of course, you can also add a detour to Seealpsee.
From Hotel Aescher, you can either hike back to Weissbad via Bommen or hike up to the Ebenalp mountain station, from where you can take the cable car down to Wasserauen. From there, a train or bus will take you back to Weissbad in 5-7 minutes.
Of course, you can also do the hike in reverse.
