The Weiselberg summit route is probably one of the most attractive hikes in the region. Mighty beech forests, deeply cut ravines, breathtaking views, an enormous railway bridge, and a passable tunnel are the highlights of this route. But also the special geological heritage of the Weiselberg with its geotopes Steinerne Meer and Steinerner Schrank makes the summit route a unique hiking experience.

The first highlight comes after just a few minutes: the Iron Bridge, from which hikers have a fantastic view over Oberkirchen into the Oster valley. Through the bright Werter forest along the former Grügelborn station, civilization is left behind shortly after, as hikers enter the primeval-forest-like Eulental, a narrow, natural ravine through which the Leichweilerbach flows with its mighty stone blocks. Bizarre rock walls, a waterfall, and the creek bed create a primeval forest-like scene in the coolness of the forest.
Another highlight is the natural monument Steinerner Schrank, an impressive rock formation reached via a short detour. Passing the spring facility Weiseler Born, there is the opportunity to refresh overheated arms and feet at the water-treading facility. The next highlight doesn't take long to appear in this hiking dramaturgy. The 272 m long and 39 m high valley bridge of Oberkirchen is the second largest stone bridge in Germany. Here, too, the view over Oberkirchen and to the Weiselberg summit is excellent. If desired, the "tunnel loop" can be added from here, a 2.5 km stretch with a 216 m long illuminated railway tunnel and the Marian shrine Bildstöckchen.

From the valley bridge begins the almost alpine ascent to the Weiselberg summit, the "i" on the dot of this extraordinary hiking route. The effort is rewarded by an unforgettable panoramic view of the St. Wendel Land. The way back leads steeply downhill through the Steinerne Meer, a collection of enormous moss-covered stone blocks. Passing a witch's hut and under a witch hanging between the trees, it then goes along the foot of the Weiselberg and back to the starting point via the barefoot path.
