Weimar is the hub of the world for all fans of German classicism and bears the label "World Heritage Site" for good reason. Alongside Schiller, Wieland, Herder and many other names, Goethe is of course at the top of the list of personalities associated with Weimar; his garden house and his later residence on the Frauenplan are just as much a part of the program of this walk as the English-style park on the Ilm, which Goethe was partly responsible for redesigning. Other highlights include the National Theatre, the Green Palace with the famous Anna Amalia Library, the New Palace and the Cranach House on the market square. Those interested in architecture can also discover medieval ensembles and Art Nouveau districts in Weimar and trace the work of Bauhaus members.
Opposite the street An der Falkenburg, we turn east from Belvederer Allee and after 30 m turn left onto a grassy path. It picks up a path from the left and then forks: we take the right-hand option. We soon discover the Roman House on the slope above us, climb the steps and turn right at the top. Our path soon joins a cross-path, which we follow to the right. Turn right there. This takes us to an artificial ruin (on the right) or the so-called Tempelherrenhaus (on the left) and we continue slightly to the right. It takes us to the edge of the old town, where we leave the park and turn right. After just a few meters, we find the narrow Seifengasse on the left immediately behind Frau von Stein's house. With the Goethe House on the left, it leads us onto Frauenplan. There we turn right and after 100 m

Sabine Gilcher
