Selected alternatives for you

A water- and nature-rich walk of about 5 km length in the Jägersburg local recreation area. The Schlossweiher, the Brückweiher, and the small ponds near the mini-golf course invite you, for example, to linger before or after a coffee break. Besides walkers interested in culinary experiences, the path is especially suitable for families.

The "Weiher walking path" is a varied and leisurely hiking path with the Café at Schlossweiher, the log cabin, the PETERS beer garden, and Il Lago as places to eat and drink. Therefore, the walking path is perfect before a coffee break or after a delicious meal in the local gastronomy. The loop can of course be extended as desired. Nevertheless, the walking path was intentionally chosen so that you can relax in nature for a morning or afternoon. From Gustavsburg at Schlossweiher, it walks comfortably through the forest and along the Felsbach to the picnic and playground meadow of Brückweiher. As the name Felsbach suggests, here lies the swampy Felsbach valley, which is still a biotope for many species today. Past the log cabin and the Fun Forest adventure park, it walks relaxed along Brückweiher to the former fish breeding ponds. The mini golf course with the small water lily ponds rounds off the walk. Those who prefer to walk back through the impressive arboretum, with its tree species rare in our region including sequoias, can also easily use the broad walking path on the opposite side.

The well-known Jägersburger Weiher – the Brückweiher, Schlossweiher, and Mühlwoog – are popular not only with local excursionists but increasingly also with visitors from across Saarland and beyond. Those who do not want to spend only half a day at the Jägersburger Weiher can stay for one or two nights at PETERS Hotel & Spa. The hotel is the top address in the northern region of Homburg and offers much in outdoor activities besides culinary delights.

    Roadbook

The starting point of this route is the parking lot of Gustavsburg, at the Schlossweiher in Jägersburg. From there, go straight ahead into the forest. The path follows a beautiful forest passage with small meadows along the path at the beginning. It continues deeper into the forest until a larger intersection is reached. There the loop turns left and shortly afterward left again. This section also continues straight for a bit before turning sharply left again. The somewhat wider forest road then leads the route directly to the Jägersburger Brückweiher. However, here the walking path does not run directly along the pond! The route was intentionally designed this way. The signposted walking path runs on the trail above the playground and fun meadow through the light forest to the log cabin. From there, the loop runs along the front, directly by the water, to the "Kleinottweiler Straße." Here, it follows the busy road only for a short stretch until the path turns left again toward the pedal boat rental and PETERS beer garden. Always straight ahead on the paved path by the water it continues to the water playground and through the mini-golf course over the little bridge at the water lily pond back to Gustavsburg.

    Public transport

The hike is accessible via short footpaths also by public transport. Bus lines 505 (Homburg-Höchen-Bexbach) and 280 (Homburg-Kusel) serve Jägersburg daily. A good exit for line 505 is at the "Schlossweiter" stop. From here you can start the hike after about 150m at the Schlossweiher. If arriving by line 280, it is recommended to get off at the "Ortsmitte" stop; from there it is about 350m to Gustavsburg where you will find the route signage along the pond.
