The Innerkeesalm with its moraine landscape and the crevassed hanging glacier of the Krimmler Kees in the background, which is one of the most constant glaciers in the Eastern Alps in terms of area, is a real eye-catcher on the hike through the long Krimmler Achental. At the Eissee above the Warnsdorfer Hut, you even come up close to this glacier world of the high mountains and feel the cold breath of the "eternal ice".
From the Krimmler Tauernhaus, you hike on the valley road to the Innerkeesalm, unless you opt for a comfortable transport with the hut taxi. Between the last alpine pasture and the material lift of the Warnsdorfer Hut, a well-marked wide path branches off to the left towards the accommodation. After about 200 meters of elevation gain, it reaches a cirque floor and enters the core zone of the national park at a junction. The hut is also visible here, to which the left path winds up. Just behind the house, a marked, easy trail mostly without significant ascent leads in about 20 minutes to the Eissee hidden in a small basin. The return to the Tauernhaus takes place on the ascent route. However, it is recommended, after covering the long way to the Warnsdorfer Hut, to stay overnight here and the next day still climb the Gamsspitzl. Those who arrived by minibus may want to attach this worthwhile summit on the same day.
