In the “Warndt”, the most forested area of Saarland, right at the German-French border, the hiker can relax from everyday stress. Karlsbrunn, the starting point of the hike, lies in a quiet valley basin. Hunting has always played an important role in this area. For hikers, besides visiting the old hunting lodge with its forest garden, a visit to the Karlsbrunn wildlife enclosure is also worthwhile. The hike leads through beautiful forests and passes by the St. Nikolaus pond. St. Nikolaus is one of the oldest Warndt places; even Emperor Barbarossa once stayed here as a hunting guest of the Saarbrücken counts. France is only a stone's throw away here, as the viewpoint at Carrière Freyming proves.
