Those who want to observe the bright blossoms from the hiking trail should use binoculars, since the tulip-shaped cups, whose structure resembles simpler cones of conifers, are located several meters high. Past the idyllic banks of the Michelsbach, you wander through the Hördt Rheinaue. On the former lord's grounds of the Augustinian monastery complex, in absolute peace and quiet, enjoy the sight of water irises, reed, orchids, natural monuments such as the wild pear and the fat beech, hops, to name just a few.
Health tip: Sun protection - better often, best always
Is there anything nicer than squinting into the sun during a break? The enjoyment is complete if you take precautions to avoid a painful sunburn: apply sunscreen to your face, neck, arms, and legs before starting your walk and pack some sunscreen with a high SPF in your backpack. You can then reapply during the hike.
The scalp and the so-called "sun terraces" on the face, i.e., forehead, nose, and the skin over the cheekbones, are particularly exposed to the sun. A sun hat or cap with a wide brim is the ideal additional protection against sunburn. Do you have children? Their skin is particularly sensitive. Hence, regular application of sunscreen and a cap with a brim and neck protection are even more important.
