The route begins on the outskirts of Ludwigswinkel and leads directly into the Palatinate Forest. On the barefoot path, which you pass at the very beginning of the hike, hikers can experience the biosphere reserve up close and get a feel for nature. Walking through the trees, the wonderful forest air flows into the lungs and revitalizes body, mind, and soul. The "Pfälzerwoog", a small lake in the nature reserve, tempts you to jump into the cool water. The sight of the peaceful water enchants every nature lover. On the way back, you pass the Lindelskopf viewpoint, which offers an incomparable view over the forest.
Health tip:
Walking barefoot is healthy for most people. It activates and strengthens the foot muscles, improves circulation, and stretches shortened tendons. Ideal is a barefoot path. The ground is differently composed, giving the soles of the feet many different stimuli over a manageable distance. Especially for children and adolescents, this is great fun.
But up to which temperatures should you go barefoot here? Devoted barefoot walkers go without shoes almost all year round – even when it's cold. Rule of thumb for everyone else: as long as the feet are warm, walking without shoes is fine. Therefore, stay moving on the barefoot path in cooler weather and put on socks and shoes when you feel your feet getting cold.
