Banyuls-sur-mer
A fairly sporty hike describing the route of Walter Benjamin and Lisza Fittko when they fled the Nazis.
You enjoy nature, you love it, take care of it…
You are walking along a hiking trail where regular household waste collection points are made fully available to you.
Out of respect for this exceptional area used each month by several tens of thousands of hikers and walkers, we invite you to deposit all your waste (glass, paper, food scraps, etc.) and any waste you may unfortunately find along your walk at these collection points.
Thanks to these simple but essential gestures, let's keep this site clean, as nature has graciously given it to us.

1. From the Banyuls-sur-Mer Tourist Office, pass in front of the town hall then turn left onto Avenue du Général de Gaulle. Pass under the railway bridge and immediately turn left to reach Puig del Mas via Avenue Pierre de Marca until you reach Place Abel Pages on your left. (Note at the departure point, the monument dedicated to Walter Benjamin and Lisza Fittko)
2. From the parking lot, continue towards the dirt track which leads to a path through the vineyards near Mas Guillaume. Continue on a paved road and turn left to Col del Bast.
3. At the pass, take the path rising on the right and follow the route for 500 meters. The path follows the ridges of the massif. Pass at the foot of an electric pylon and take the stony path that crosses several scree slopes heading to Col de Rumpissar at 538 meters altitude. (The circuit continues to Port Bou with the burgundy trail; count 1 to 1.5 hours more if you extend the loop)
4. By turning left, you will take the Saute Montagne hiking trail that will take you to the Querroig Tower at 672 meters altitude offering you an exceptional 360° panorama.
5. To descend, retrace your steps from Col de Rumpissar.
6. Once you arrive in the La colline des Oliviers subdivision, take Avenue Pierre de Marca to the Tourist Office.
