The start and finish of the walk through the Šaštín pine forests is at the site of the Jubilee Forest, which was planted on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia. The most famous of them in western Slovakia is the one near Šaštín.
The Protected Landscape Area Záhorie was shaped in the past by the wind, which constantly carried fine sands here from the floodplain of the Morava River. Large-scale afforestation of this part of Slovakia began during the reign of Maria Theresa. People at that time found that pine was suitable for the local conditions.
The educational trail has several stops, is well marked, and besides natural beauties, it also offers a historical monument - the chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows. You can complete the route with minimal elevation gain in approximately four hours.
After the trip, you can relax by the Gazárka lake.
