W1 - Plochwald loop / start and finish in Windhaag near Freistadt
Over the 11 km about 300 m of elevation are gained, going on quiet and secluded paths through the Plochwald, passing the Edlbauer rock, the Silver Lake, and the Jankus church.

The start is located directly at the market square of Windhaag. It goes along the road to Oberwindhaag and after a short distance turns left to the sports field. Already on this stretch you pass several filming locations of the crime drama "The Dead Man at the Pond." From the sports field, the route continues on field and gravel paths. The path is well signposted everywhere.
From Edthiasl-Höhe, there is a beautiful view towards the Czech Republic. At the crossroads, you can turn right onto the forest path; after a short ascent, you will find a beautiful summit cross.
The hiking trail continues on the road, which after about 400m is left to the right onto a gravel path adorned with some stone artworks inviting contemplation. Now it goes steadily uphill, past a spring to the Edlbauer ruin and the Edlbauer rock, which is also worth climbing!
After the climb, continue the path to the quarry and the so-called "Silver Lake," an idyllic spot in the middle of the forest.
The path now turns back towards Windhaag. In Predetschalg, the path branches right before a farmyard and leads towards the Jankus church.
The Jankus church is also worth climbing! There is a wonderful view!
From the Jankus church, there are 2 options to continue, either past the rock towards the east or up the mountain to the north. After a short distance, the paths join again.
From then on, it goes steadily downhill towards Windhaag; simply follow the markings.
