Vineyard round in the Katzbach Valley
The Katzbach railway opens up to us a typical hiking region of the Kraichgau. Between vineyards and forest above the wine town of Tiefenbach, the tour leads to the small Kreuzberg chapel with its colorful interior and wide view in front. Those who feel like it can walk back via Tiefenbach and taste the products of the vineyards walked through in a typical Kraichgau Besen.
From Odenheim station, we hike along the extension of the railway line that formerly ran here, along the Katzbach in a southeast direction (yellow line). At the end of the settlement, we turn left, find a hiking trail sign for the Besenhexweg on a tool shed, and continue straight on the grass path. Soon the lateral loess walls become higher and we walk through a wonderful typical Kraichgau hollow. In spring and summer, the buzzing of numerous insects living in the sandy substrate of the path edges accompanies us. Ignoring a branch, it gradually goes higher. Now and then it's worth looking back at the wine town. We reach the plateau and turn left at the end of the path. Albrecht Ritter
