Scenic hike high above the Inn Valley with views and summit experience!
You pass through a stone pine forest that hosts and protects a large old stock of stone pines.
A more challenging variant than hiking over the heavily frequented Zirbenweg to Tulfeinalm.
Depending on time and condition, the route can be extended.
Author’s recommendation
In summer, an early start is necessary to avoid prolonged exposure to heat.
The hike can be extended up to the Glungezer. This would be identical to the first stage of the Inntaler Höhenweg. Walking time (last descent) must be considered.
Without the two summits, the hike along the Zirbenweg is highly recommended. It is significantly easier and shorter.
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.

Roadbook
From the Patscherkofelhaus (1970m), a wide hiking route leads up to the summit of Patscherkofel (2246m). You leave the summit heading east and descend to Boscheben. Here you meet the Zirbenweg again, which leads from the Patscherkofelhaus to this point. After about 20 minutes, the Glungezer Höhenweg branches off to the right on the south side of the Viggartal. A short detour to the summit of Viggarspitze (2306m) is worthwhile.
Return follows the same route to the junction and continues via the Zirbenweg to Tulfeinalm. From Tulfeinalm, you can also take the Glungezerbahn to Tulfes and the post bus back to Igls.
