The Vienna Ridgeway unlocks the ridge Leopoldsberg – Dreimarkstein in the mostly undeveloped green belt of the city. Starting in Grinzing, we first ascend via the advanced terrace at Cobenzl to Hermannskogel and then descend via Dreimarkstein and the Hameau to Neuwaldegg. On the hilltop, we encounter two well-known long-distance trails, the red-white-red marked Wienerwald connecting trail 444 and the red-green marked Rund-um-Wien trail 10. Those who wish to extend the proposed round trip can follow their markings from the Hameau.
Near the terminus of tram line 38 in Grinzing, you can see on a tree in Cobenzlgasse the first signpost of the Voralpenweg 04 and the red-white-red marking of hiking trail 444. The red-white-red markings first guide us along the vineyards of Grinzing and up to Cobenzl. Then we hike eastwards around the Latisberg and nearly flat through beautiful beech high forest to the Jägerwiese at the foot of Hermannskogel. Now it either goes over the highest mountain of Vienna, the 542 m high Hermannskogel, or – far more comfortably – around it on the left further to Rohrerwiese with the Grüass Di a Gott inn. Behind that, the path gently rises to Dreimarkstein. Right next door is the inn Häuserl am Roan, from whose parking lot you have a comprehensive view of the Vienna city area. With little elevation changes, the still red-white-red marked trail now leads us through magnificent beech high forest to the Hameau, 464 m, also called Holländerdörfl. Those who wish can continue the path on the ridge
