We hike up the Vienna Nußberg and stop along the way at Heurigen, where we sit in the vineyards, enjoy Vienna Gemischter Satz wine from Nußberg, and can look over Vienna.
We hike in Vienna from Nußdorf up to the Nußberg and visit several Buschenschänken along the way, where we preferably taste wines grown on the Nußberg, especially the Vienna Gemischter Satz. The Vienna Gemischter Satz is a wine made from different grape varieties, whose grapes are harvested and processed together at the same time. Most vineyards on the Nußberg have a very good location, as they are south-facing slopes. The beautiful thing about the Nußberg is that you can sit in the midst of the vineyard rows at the Buschenschänken and enjoy the view of Vienna. The Heurigen tour on the Nußberg is a circular route that begins in Eichelhofstraße, continues via Eichelhofweg to the plateau of the Nußberg, and returns through the valley of the Schreiberbach, the border between Grinzing and Heiligenstadt, passing through the lower part via Beethovenpark and on the Beethovengang, where Beethoven liked to walk.

Tips and suggestions
The "Viennese Heurigen culture", shaped by the Vienna Gemischter Satz DAC, was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as intangible cultural heritage in 2019. The Vienna Gemischter Satz is a wine made from various grape varieties, whose grapes come from Vienna vineyards and are harvested and processed at the same time.
A Vienna Gemischter Satz must contain at least three quality grape varieties from the same vineyard, with the largest portion of a grape variety not exceeding 50% and the third largest portion not less than 10%. Depending on the origin of the wine, the Vienna Gemischter Satz exists in 3 quality levels: regional wine, local wine, and single vineyard wine.
For the regional wine of the Vienna Gemischter Satz, all grapes must have grown in Vienna, though they can come from various Vienna vineyards. For the local wine of the Vienna Gemischter Satz, the grapes come from the 7 cadastral communities of Vienna.
If the grapes for the Vienna Gemischter Satz wine come from a single Ried, it is called Vienna Gemischter Satz single vineyard wine, with a Ried being the smallest legally defined place of origin. The special feature is that each of the 140 existing Rieds in Vienna produces wines with an individual character.
Roadbook
From the valley station of the former cog railway to Kahlenberg, which today houses the restaurant "Einkehr zur Zahnradbahn" in Zahnradbahnstraße in Wien Nußdorf, we proceed via Bockkellerstraße and Nußbergergasse to the beginning of Eichelhofstraße, named after an estate on the Nußberg from which there was a beautiful view of Vienna, captured in an oil painting by the painter Carl Moll in 1933. The Eichelhofstraße initially runs through a deep, lined loess trench with 2 arch supports, passing traces that remind us that the Vienna Basin was once covered by the water of the ancient sea, uphill to a viewpoint terrace from which there is a nice view of Vienna above the Danube. A little further up, the Eichelhofweg branches off from Eichelhofstraße, running uphill along the upper edge of the Ried Weisleiten on the ridge of the Nußberg. After reaching a plateau, we come to the Buschenschank of the Wieninger winery. From there it continues almost level to Kahlenberger Straße where the Buschenschank of the Mayer winery is located. Kahlenberger Straße goes a little further uphill, and you reach the Ried Pratteln, where the Buschenschank of the Walíland winery is located, offering a beautiful view of Leopoldsberg and Vienna.
From the Wailand winery, the path goes downhill through Ried Mitterberg towards Wildgrubgasse, which we follow into the Muckental, the border between Heiligenstadt and Grinzing. Through the Muckental, it goes downhill along the Schreiberbach until we reach Beethovenpark in the area of Kahlenberger Straße. In Beethovenpark, we take a look at the Beethoven monument there before continuing along the Schreiberbach on the Beethovengang to the valley station of the former cog railway in Zahnradbahnstraße in Nußdorf, the start and end point of our Heurigen route on the Nußberg.
