The route was recorded with an all-terrain stroller at a fairly fast pace. The breaks were used to take pictures for the tour description.
At a more leisurely pace, you should allow 2.5 to 3 hours for the route, during which a planned or unplanned stop at a Heurigen during the descent may or perhaps should be included.
Author’s recommendation
The view from Kahlenberg as well as from Nußberg offers a look over all of Vienna.
A stop to refresh at a Heurigen on Nußberg is worth it – however, these usually only open in the afternoon.

The route starts at the final stop of tram line D. From there, it goes along a small creek to the Heiligenstadt cemetery. (paved) About 15 minutes after the cemetery, a forest road begins, where the condition of the road soon worsens and it is more like a wide hiking trail.
Shortly after crossing Höhenstraße at the underpass, a section of paved path begins again.
With a stroller, you should cross Höhenstraße again at the small parking lot, since the actual route of the city hiking trail leads over a bridge with stairs.
At Kahlenberg, it is advisable to take a short break and enjoy the view over Vienna.
Shortly after the summit, you reach the forest rope park – a special highlight for children but also adults. You should take extra time for this.
From the forest rope park, a wide hiking trail begins again, partly with fist-sized stones. Once you come out of the forest, you are already on Nußberg and continue walking on a paved road. (Kahlenberger Straße)
Along the city hiking trail 1 on Nußberg there are several Heurigen where you can refresh yourself after the effort.
Finally, you descend back to Nußdorf and return to the final stop of tram line D.
A large part of the ascent is in the forest and therefore shaded. The descent, especially on Nußberg, is hardly shaded by trees.
