The ascent to Veladoiro is initially somewhat strenuous, but the view over the partly steeply falling coast is worth the effort. Although the small island of Punta Insua in front of Cabo Touriñán further north is considered the westernmost point of Spain, the Cabo da Nave below Veladoiro sticks its nose a little further into the Atlantic. Short sections through open pine forests give the hike a Mediterranean flair.
From the road we first walk on the sandy path, then on the wooden boardwalk towards Praia do Mar de Fóra and there turn right towards the beach end about 500 m away. There we steer left towards the clearly visible path on the slope. Practically in a straight line we climb uphill, passing a forest track coming from the right (about 30 minutes up to here, our later return route). Along the forest edge we climb for another 10 minutes until the path flattens and forks (the wide path to the right joins the return path after about 200 m). We follow the narrower path to the left (possibly a wire stretched over the path), which soon heads north again towards the forest edge. On the left front, the Veladoiro crowned with a small house and antennas can already be seen. In the little wood we come straight ahead after a few steps to an inconspicuous junction.
