Vallone dei Quarti Loop

After leaving the car at Pian della Regina, descend towards the Po and cross it via the bridge, following the signs for Lago Chiaretto/Rifugio Sella.

Then start climbing along the farm road on the right bank of the river, which leads into the Vallone dei Quarti.

Leave the road in favor of a path, still following the signs for Rifugio Sella.

The ascent now takes place entirely facing Monviso and Viso Mozzo. You need to pay some attention to the white-red marks to avoid losing the path, but they are generally quite easy to spot.

Arriving at Balmetta, you find a three-way junction: here you no longer follow the signs for Rif.Sella, but for Giacoletti/Pian del Re. In a short time, you reach Lago Chiaretto with its characteristic color.

Climbing slightly, you reach another fork from which you must continue towards Pian del Re. Thus begins the descent that soon brings you to Lago Fiorenza towards which you continue to descend.

Upon reaching the lake, continue along its shore and then descend towards Pian del Re.

Finally, the well-trodden path from Pian del Re leads back to the starting point.

A very rewarding hike in terms of views (weather permitting!) which offers the climb into Vallone dei Quarti, a route somewhat less frequented than the one to Pian del Re.
