Unione dei Comuni Valli Taro e Ceno
A hike that covers a stretch of the most intricate Val Ceno loop, a walk immersed in nature between the chiaroscuro of geological limestone outcrops of interest.
From the historic center of the town of Bardi (where a visit to the Parish Church of the Blessed Virgin, which houses a work of fascinating beauty and value, the Altarpiece of Bardi, created by Parmigianino between 1521 and 1522), you head towards Passo del Pellizzone, passing Diamanti locality and Chiesa Bianca locality with its Oratory of San Lorenzo from the 14th century.
After crossing the Passo del Pellizzone, the boundary between the provinces of Parma and Piacenza, through the “Silva Harimannorum”, the ancient forest of the Lombard warriors, you reach the summit of Monte Carameto. Place of settlement of the primitive Ligurian populations, it is considered among the 300 most panoramic points in Italy; here the view stretches 360 degrees over Val Ceno, Val d'Arda and the Po Plain. The southern slope of the mountain features a geosite characterized by fascinating light and dark limestone strata dating back about 70 million years protruding from the lush woods.
Among a vegetation of beeches and hawthorns, flanking at a distance Monte Cornale towering on our left and after passing the Bocchetta di Sette Sorelle pass, you reach the inhabited center of Bore, overlooking the valley of the Cenedola stream, framed by century-old chestnut woods.
Author’s recommendation
In the historic center of Bardi, besides the ancient castle, it is a must to climb to the Groppo della Predella, a viewpoint from which to admire the wonderful panorama over Val Ceno and Val Noveglia.
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.
