Worthwhile route, which here due to the evening time was chosen via the direct, steep ascent. The route is certainly more pleasant via the gentler and longer hiking path. The "Ulriken" is a good starting point for further routes in the Bergen area. Route suggestions can also be found on the internet platform of the DNT www.ut.no.

The route is interesting not only for hikers but also for joggers—at least joggers with Norwegian genes. It is frequently used by the Bergen locals as an evening jogging route. However, not all runners may like the steep ascent.

Roadbook
The path starts at the Bergen Montana youth hostel or at the hiking parking lot located a few meters uphill. From there, it initially goes to the right and slightly uphill on a wide path heading southeast.
At the signpost, you have to choose between the steep direct ascent ("diretissima") or the more comfortable hiking trail.
Since it is evening, we follow the direct ascent over coarse scree; it quickly goes over blockwork and partially stairs and railings up to the cable car summit station (approx. 610 meters in height). We save the few meters to the summit itself because there is a very nice view of the center of Bergen as well as the neighborhoods located to the east.
On the way back, we follow the ascent and marvel at how quickly you can climb up and down 450 meters without switchbacks.
