For those who do not place value on walking along the Iller loop through a great nature reserve to later reach the suspension bridge, one can also beforehand cross to the other side of the Iller to get to the picturesque Maria Steinbach.
Although I missed this experience, the route on the other side was no less beautiful the following day.

Upon arrival at Memmingen train station, you go directly into the small beautiful old town lanes. Many charming old town houses can be seen here in combination with water canals.
Southwest of the city, passing large sports facilities, I continued on the country road towards Volksrathofen.
Although not matching the map, I was able to use the parallel cycling/hiking path alongside the country road.
Between Volkrathofen and Ferthofen, I used the side route along freshly mowed fields.
Parallel to the Iller, it then went on asphalt through a forest and later on smaller country roads to Kardorf, where I took a break in the St. Nikolaus church.
A wonderful small church with many paintings. At one point there were additional guests, otherwise, I was able to stay there for quite a long time to rest and cool down.
After leaving the village, the path led along a large water area of the Iller to Illerbeuren, where near the Farm Museum I was able to enjoy my meal break at the Gromerhof guesthouse.
Of course, in that weather it was fun to sit here, and when I was allowed by the guesthouse owner to charge my iPhone, I was prepared for the coming night.
Even though it was nice here, I still had to set off again without knowing where I would pitch my tent.
Until sunset, I made my way almost to Oberbinnwang, where I found a pleasant campsite beside a cornfield under trees.
