In the picturesque Rückholzer ground moraine region, a completely carefree and, moreover, thoroughly enjoyable walk around three ponds awaits us.
We start at the northern edge of Rückholz, at an elevation of 879 m. The uphill walking path to the church treats us to a motivating mountain view right from the start. We walk downhill along a narrow path and turn left onto Raiffeisenstraße. A small road takes us to the two farms in Oberprost, home to the pretty Kreszentia Chapel. The “Holzleuten” hiking sign directs us onto a dirt road. After the meadow hollow, the gradually silting-up Grundweiher pond is worth a quick detour.The main route then continues across the hilly meadow landscape. Before reaching the first houses in Holzleuten, we follow the Trollweiher loop—which is later paved—to Treffisried, where a chapel entirely clad in shingles stands. As we hike along a farm road, the Trollweiher, set in a rather romantic location, suddenly comes into view behind a hilltop. First, however, we’ll take a brief detour—barely worth mentioning—to the smaller but no less charming Luimooser Weiher, heading toward the Ammergau Alps. In the
