In spring, I like to choose routes that offer a wide view over the open lowland landscape in the Nuthe-Nieplitz-Niederung Nature Park. This route in the Nuthetal municipality is part of that.
The nearly 8 km long circular route in the Nuthe-Nieplitz-Niederung Nature Park offers something for every taste:
flat meadow paths and sweat-inducing uphill climbs,
forests and rows of trees,
meadows and canals,
straight riverbank paths, and
winding trails through a pine forest.
I choose the route so that I first conquer the forest section with its sweat-inducing ascent and descent and finish by crossing the open landscape.
Depending on the time of day and sun position, the route can also be walked in the opposite direction.

Start in Tremsdorf
In Tremsdorf, I start my hike at the information board in Tremsdorfer Dorfstraße and walk a bit along the street towards Fresdorf. Then I keep slightly to the right and follow the residential street "Sportplatz" until it turns into a field path. Immediately at a cozy resting bench, a yellow marking sends me right into the forest on a narrow inconspicuous path uphill.
To the Backofenberg
The blue mark of the long-distance hiking trail E10 joins in and guides me on a winding trail through a fairytale-like forest with thick, branched, old pines, continually uphill to the "summit plateau" of the Backofenberg. Unfortunately, there is neither a view nor a panorama, as I am in the middle of the forest. The high plateau is impressive nonetheless, especially the steep and sudden descent that leads to a cross path. There I keep to the left to then follow the blue marking through the wood.
The Fontaneweg
At the fork with a hiking signpost, I leave the blue marking of the E10 and follow the yellow marking as well as the red marking of the Fontaneweg F4 towards Königsgraben. At the state road connecting Saarmund with Tremsdorf, I walk a few steps to the right and then turn left onto a field path.
At the Königsgraben
I go straight ahead – a small forest patch on the left, meadows on the right – until I reach the Königsgraben. Then, following the red marking of the Fontaneweg F4 to the right, I accompany the canalized ditch over a distance of about 2 km. I am in a flat lowland landscape with wide views of distant rows of trees and wet meadows. Cranes are often seen or at least heard through their distinctive trumpet calls.
Back to the start
Arriving at the asphalt road, I leave the red marking of F4 and turn right to return via the village street of Tremsdorf to my starting point. There is still time to take a quick look at the opening hours and workshop dates of the soap manufactory in the "Old School".
