The Tree Spirits Tour fascinates with the adventurous Steckeschläferklamm and its numerous tree spirits, big and small. The suspension bridge as well as the Villa Rustica are further highlights of the entertaining route.
Start at the Forsthaus Jägerhaus and through the adventurous Steckeschläferklamm. Here you will be watched by numerous tree spirits. How many can you find? After the Villa Rustica, where Roman everyday life can be experienced, you cross the Kreuzbach via a suspension bridge and gradually approach the Rhine after the Forsthaus Heiligkreuz. Along the edge of the slope, magnificent views of the Rhine are offered. The Eselspfad leads to Burg Rheinstein and further into the idyllic Morgenbachtal before returning to the Jägerhaus.
The Tree Spirits Tour is currently being revised due to several landslides in the Aderbach valley. The new route leads through the Morgenbachtal.

Safety information
General safety instructions:
- Wear weather-appropriate, functional clothing that protects you from cold and wet or heat and sun.
- Plan your stages with adequate breaks and use your strength sparingly.
- Take enough fluids with you. There are not refreshment options everywhere.
- Please wear hiking boots suitable for the path that provide you with sufficient grip even on slippery and steep or rocky and uneven paths.
- If you think certain sections of the path are impassable for you, you should avoid them. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections.
- Pay particular attention in autumn as fallen leaves can hide unevenness, roots, stones or holes in the path. You must expect these path impairments when hiking.
- Especially steep and clearly dangerous parts are of course secured with railings or ropes. Please treat these safety measures as such. Railings are intended as fall protection and not as climbing frames or observation towers. Please treat these safety measures as such. Tips and suggestions

Directly in front of the Forsthaus Jägerhaus, this route starts slightly downhill into the Morgenbachtal to the nearby entrance of the ghostly Steckeschläferklamm. A narrow path now leads partly over wooden bridges, partly directly along the creek uphill through this enchanted forest gorge. Wherever you look, carved tree spirits and faces watch you step by step. At the end of the gorge, after crossing the K 29, wide forest paths lead up to the edge of the forest near the Waldalgesheim weekend settlement. The path continues scenic and with views along the forest edge until the way, after crossing the road again, turns back into the forest. Shortly afterwards, the next highlight of the Tree Spirits Tour is reached with the 'Villa Rustica.' In the extensive area, archaeologists are restoring parts of a Roman estate from the 1st century AD. Information boards pique curiosity, and a rest area invites you to take a break.
Then you soon reach the next attraction on a wide forest path gently downhill, the suspension bridge over the Kreuzbach. Not only children have fun here. The swinging can definitely cause butterflies in the stomach. Now follows a varied section through a forestry botanical garden and past the Forsthaus Heiligkreuz (a popular restaurant with a large outdoor terrace), the Tree Spirits Tour slowly but surely approaches the Rhine. A short detour to the summit of the Damiankopf is worthwhile soon, to enjoy the first view of the Rhine valley from there. The path continues excitingly parallel to the Rhine downstream through the sometimes deeply cut forest. Finally, the next premium viewpoint is reached at the Schweizer Haus – a formerly princely hunting lodge of Burg Rheinstein.
The following section down the Eselspfad into the Morgenbachtal is pure hiking bliss, and the small detour to the magnificent Burg Rheinstein with a stop at the inn Kleiner Weinprinz is an absolute must. Back on the way to the Morgenbachtal, after a short up and down, you soon reach a rock spur that offers a view of the next castle: Burg Reichenstein in Trechtingshausen. Through the entire Morgenbachtal, you return to the Forsthaus Jägerhaus to the starting point, where a stop at the rustic restaurant is now really worthwhile.
