Trdnjava Kluže (Flitscher Klause fortress)
About 5 km northeast of Bovec, the mountain river Koritnica has carved a wild gorge. This place was excellently suited to block the road from Görz (Gorica) through the Isonzo (Soča) valley over the Predil Pass. In 1470, the Republic of Venice built a wooden fortress here against Turkish invasions. The Habsburgs replaced this with a stone building in the 17th century, which was destroyed in the French wars in 1797. The fortress in its current form was built in 1881/1882; it now serves as a museum. The Fort Hermann, built between 1898 and 1900, reinforced the Flitscher Klause fortress.
From the tourist information center in Bovec, we cross the street to several signposts. We follow the destinations "Čelo/Plajer" and "Čelo/Ravelnik" and turn left after a few minutes towards "Plajer/Plajerjeva skala". At the last houses, a gravel road begins, which soon turns into a forest path. At a junction we take the trail to the left. At another signpost, a narrow trail branches off to the left, taking us over a short rock step to an asphalt road; beautiful view of Svinjak across the valley. At a bench, a trail begins that leads left uphill to the Plajer estate, 640 m. From here we follow the uphill Zgodovinska path, initially aiming for "Široki plaz". In the forest, we reach a junction at 790 m towards Fort Hermann. We cross a scree slope and after about 20 minutes arrive at another junction where we continue right. Then follows another gravel field, then we remain in the forest and after a long traverse reach the junction at 846 m of a path towards Na Robu–Rombon. On a partly
