Arriving at the sunny balcony of Tauplitz, everyone probably looks out for a quickly reachable summit destination. Naturally, the choice falls on the nearest one, the Traweng, which can be reached from the parking lot at the end of the toll road in about two hours. The great 360-degree panorama offers visual delights in clear weather that you don't really deserve given the physical effort involved…
From the Tauplitzalm parking lot, walk 50 m north along the asphalt road to the fork and keep right onto a track over alpine pastures heading northeast to the next junction. Turn right onto the "forest path to the center" through woods and over meadows ascending east to a hill. Pass under the Tauplitzalm chairlift and descend to a track which is traversed, then to a natural road. Keep right onto the asphalt road coming from the Tauplitzalm mountain village (paths no. 209, 218, and 276). Follow it past the Lenzbauer hut, ascend over meadows to the right (east) to a hill (right to Linzer Tauplitzhaus) and descend beyond into a hollow with a fork. Straight ahead on path no. 72, pass left by Marburger hut, ascend north under the rock face of Traweng and keep right up a steep ramp. This passes a cave entrance, goes through block terrain and over rock ledges diagonally to the left, then after a short traverse into a grassy gully. On its right side, along the walls, over scree and rock steps
