Gypsum rock, Sonnenberg and Speckfeld ruin
Around the old Franconian market village, nature is allowed to be as it is: diverse and unspoiled. On comfortable routes, you pass original, natural, and small-structured vineyards, old gypsum masonry, species-rich lean meadows and through the historic middle forest. Above all towers the Speckfeld ruin as the proverbial highlight of the Schlossbergsattel nature reserve.
Author’s recommendation
From the Schlossbergsattel to the ruin, the TraumRunden Markt Einersheim and Iphofen run parallel to each other.
On the TraumRunde Markt Einersheim there is currently – due to forestry work and the weather – a huge hole on the field path coming from the Speckfeld ruin towards Markt Einersheim, shortly after the barrier.
The municipalities/forestry/the lower nature conservation authority/the trail wardens are already working on restoring the path as soon as possible.

Collecting stamps and pins made easy:
All TraumRunden have stamp stations, one on each route.
Now you can prove that you have really hiked all the TraumRunden – with 5 stamps you already get the silver TraumRunden badge and with 15 collected stamps naturally the golden one, including a certificate.
And what works with a stamp pass is, of course, also possible digitally – with the digital hiking pin via the SummitLynx app.
Here you collect pins and earn points. Already at 120 collected targets you receive the digital silver hiking pin in recognition of your hiking enthusiasm and endurance. But why stop at silver? When another 325 points have been earned, the golden pin awaits.

Safety information
Use of hiking trails in the forest is at your own risk. (Art. 13 para. 2 sentence 1 BayWaldG or § 60 BNatSchG).
Due to forestry work and current weather conditions, there are repeatedly hazardous spots on some TraumRunden on natural paths. These can be muddy and slippery.

Sufficient sun protection is important, so take sunscreen, headwear, and sunglasses with you.
And for bad weather – pack rain and windproof clothing to put on.
There is not always a place to rest on the way, so please take enough water and provisions for safety.
There are insects and unfortunately also ticks; it is advisable to wear long clothing or bring insect repellent. Also think about a booster vaccination for tick-borne encephalitis (TBE). The district of Kitzingen is a TBE risk area. Further information on why sufficient protection against ticks is important and how you can prepare can be found on the websites of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).
The TraumRunden partly run on narrow forest paths and in ascending terrain. Therefore, the paths are not suitable for strollers and rollators. We ask for your understanding.

Roadbook
On Pfählbergweg you go over the B8 towards the "Wengertshäusla" and the Vogelsang balcony. These viewpoints offer a wonderful view over Markt Einersheim and the surroundings.
Not far away is the old gypsum stone wall, which provides a home for many plant and animal species. From there, you go along the Steigerwald Nature Park and reach the rest and viewpoint Sonnenberg, where in the vineyards Sonnenberg and Vogelsang perhaps one or the other winemaker tends his "Wengert."
Along vineyards, past meadows, always the cool, shady forest to the north, to the south the ever-present view of the Hellmitzheim Bay and the wine paradise, the path goes slightly uphill over the Schlossbergsattel in the direction of Speckfeld ruin. The former mountain castle of the Schenken von Limpurg-Speckfeld still exists in fragments. From the ruin, it goes slightly downhill to the connecting road to Birklingen, then right to the Neubauhof estate. From here the route leads through the forest to the Possenheimer vineyards. A rest area invites you there to linger with a dreamlike view of the "Franconian Tuscany."
The route back to Markt Einersheim is lined by meadows and fields. After crossing the federal highway, the path leads along Würzburg Street to the Nuremberg Gate and the historic pharmacy back to the starting point of the TraumRunde.
