Experience the Steigerwald Nature Park on soft paths
PLEASE NOTE:
Parking in Gräfenneuses
The weather is nice and everyone wants to go outside, we understand that. However, we ask that the official parking spaces in Gräfenneuses be respected and that private driveways are not used or blocked.
Alternatively, please use the hiking parking lot between Gräfenneuses and Ebersbrunn. Thank you.
Currently
There are larger ruts in the forest due to forestry work. We ask for your understanding.
The TraumRunde runs mostly on pleasantly soft ground over a forested quaternary drifting sand dune. Where the hikers leave the forest, they can enjoy dreamlike views over the beautiful cultural landscape of the Steigerwald Nature Park and the Kitzingen wine region. The multi-generation fitness trail offers variety.
Author’s recommendation
The two TraumRunde routes Geiselwind and Prichsenstadt share part of the trail and can be excellently combined into a day hike of 16.3 km in the form of a “figure eight”. Please pay attention to the changing markings (G = Geiselwind, P = Prichsenstadt).
Collecting stamps and pins made easy:
On all TraumRunde routes there are stamp stations, one on each route.
You can now prove that you have really hiked all TraumRunden – with 5 stamps there is already the silver TraumRunden badge and with 15 collected stamps, of course, the gold one, including a certificate.
What is possible with a stamp pass is also possible digitally – with the digital hiking badge via the SummitLynx app.
Here you collect badges and earn points. Already at 120 collected targets you receive the digital silver hiking badge as recognition for hiking enthusiasm and endurance. But why stop at silver? If another 325 points are earned, the gold badge awaits.
All information about the digital hiking badge and the TraumRunden stamp passes (order) at www.wanderglueck-kitzingerland.de.
Our tip for the stamp station:
Keep your eyes open before or after Ebersbrunn.

Safety information
Use of forest hiking trails is at your own risk. (Art. 13 paragraph 2 sentence 1 BayWaldG or § 60 BNatSchG).
Sufficient sun protection is important, so please take sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses with you.
And for bad weather - pack rain- and windproof clothing to put on.
There is not always an option to stop for refreshments along the way, so please take enough water and provisions for safety.
There are insects and unfortunately also ticks, it is advisable to wear long clothing or to bring insect repellent. Consider getting a booster vaccination for tick-borne encephalitis (TBE). The district of Kitzingen is a TBE-risk area. Further information on why adequate protection against ticks is important and how you can prepare can be found on the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) websites.
The TraumRunden run partly on narrow forest paths and on ascending terrain. Therefore, the paths are not suitable for strollers and rollators. We ask for your understanding.
Roadbook
In the starting point Gräfenneuses at the old school, diagonally opposite the “Ilmbacher Gate,” once a monastery entrance, the path starts along the road towards Ebersbrunn. After just a few hundred meters, it goes steeply uphill on a path into the forest growing on sand. Soon the first fitness trail equipment appears along the path, encouraging spontaneous exercises over a distance of 1 km. Passing a hiking parking lot and crossing a clearing, it goes back into a forest. Here a mighty oak greets the hikers. After another 500 m, another view opens up over the cultural landscape of the Steigerwald Nature Park and over Ebersbrunn. After descending into the village, a refreshment at the tapped spring of the Reiche Ebrach is recommended. Further on, hikers pass by the church of St. Vitus in Ebersbrunn, the old natural bowling alley and the cellar complex of the inn. Via the old hollow path, it goes uphill again. At the top, another beautiful view of the hilly Steigerwald landscape rewards you. Shortly after re-entering the forest, a sand pit on the right reveals the sandy soil structure. The path continues for 1.5 km over mossy paths through the dense forest. On a narrow path, it continues 1 km to the forest rest stop “Trunkhütte.” From here, it is only 1 km to the viewpoint and rest stop “Glösberg,” which offers a view of the Kitzingen wine region on clear days. The starting point Gräfenneuses is already in sight and reached after another 15 min of walking.
