A romantic stroll with dreamy views of vineyards and the Main River
Varied landscapes and beautiful views characterize the mostly level, slightly undulating route: be it the Herz-Jesu-Höhe, offering a wide view over the vineyards around Dettelbach, the Josefshöhe with a breathtaking view of the Main, or the rustic vineyard hut at the foot of which lies Dettelbach's old town.

Safety information
Use of hiking trails in the forest is at your own risk. (Art. 13 paragraph 2 sentence 1 BayWaldG or § 60 BNatSchG).
Adequate sun protection is important, so bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.
And for bad weather - pack rain- and windproof clothing to put on.
There are not always opportunities to stop for food on the route, so please take enough water and provisions for safety.
There are insects and unfortunately also ticks; it is advisable to wear long clothing or bring insect repellent. Also remember a booster shot for tick-borne encephalitis (TBE). The Kitzingen district is a TBE risk area. More information on why adequate protection against ticks is important and how you can prepare yourself can be found on the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) websites.
The TraumRunden partly follow narrow forest paths and ascend terrain. Therefore, these paths are not suitable for strollers and rollators. We ask for your understanding.
Tips and suggestions
If a half-day route is not enough, you can walk the TraumRunde Dettelbach in the opposite direction and join the TraumRunde Dettelbacher Dörfer (15 km) at the Kieselsmühle!
Roadbook
The hike starts on a primeval path leading out of the town and running along the vineyards to the Kieselsmühle (1). After crossing the state road, the path passes a horse farm and continues through the vineyards. The descent runs along the Mühlbach through the Bibergauer Grund (2) – past the deadwood garden. Through the "Kalte Grube" it goes up to a gravel road where the federal highway must be crossed. Further on to the "Sieben Bäume" trail above the vineyards. From the Josefshöhe (3), there is a romantic view over the Main valley. Then steps lead down through a small wooded area, the "Tirschgraben". Along a hedge it goes up into the "Katzental", a short detour to the Sieben-Köpfe-Marter (4) is worthwhile. Afterwards, meadow paths lead through the vineyards. Shortly after, the wayside shrine at the Herz-Jesu-Höhe (5) appears and invites you to pause. The ascent is rewarded with a magnificent panorama over romantic Dettelbach, the towers of the Münsterschwarzach Abbey, and the Steigerwald. The adjoining shelter (6) offers ideal conditions for a snack. Now a gravel path lined with vines leads down into the town. Past the fire station, following Kolpingstraße, it goes through Würzburger Straße to Dr.-Matthias-Horn-Straße and then into Spitalgasse. The path ends at the historic Town Hall (7).
