To the most beautiful wine view!
The Silvaner residence Castell is a wine-growing town with a special tradition: The first Silvaner in Germany was planted in Castell in 1659. The picturesque town nestles below the Schlossberg on the hillside, beautifully situated between vineyards, orchards, and forest. Schlossberg and Herrenberg offer splendid panoramic views far into the Main valley and to the Rhön.

Collecting stamps and pins made easy:
There are stamp stations on all TraumRunden routes, one on each route.
Now you can prove that you have really hiked all the TraumRunden routes - at 5 stamps you receive the silver TraumRunden badge and at 15 stamps of course the gold one, including a certificate.
And what is possible with a stamp pass is of course also possible digitally – with the digital hiking needle via the SummitLynx app.
Here you collect needles and earn points. Already at 120 collected goals you get the digital silver hiking needle as recognition for enthusiasm for hiking and endurance. But why stop at silver? When a further 325 points have been earned, the gold needle awaits.
All information about the digital hiking needle and the TraumRunden stamp passes (ordering) at www.wanderglueck-kitzingerland.de.

Safety information
Dear TraumRunden hikers, currently there are path construction works on a field path in the area between Castell and Greuth in the district "Vockenloh" (on the straight field path from Casteller Hohnart to Greuth). There may be obstructions, but the paths are still walkable in the adjoining meadows and fields. Therefore, no detour has been set up. Duration approx. 2-3 weeks. So just veer a little. Thank you very much.
We ask for your understanding!
Using hiking trails in the forest is at your own risk. (Art. 13 para. 2 sentence 1 BayWaldG or § 60 BNatSchG).
Adequate sun protection is important, so take sunscreen, headwear, and sunglasses with you.
And for bad weather – pack rain- and windproof clothing for putting on.
There isn’t always a place to stop for food on the way, so please take enough water and provisions for safety.
There are insects and unfortunately also ticks; it is recommended to wear long clothing or take insect repellent. Also consider a booster vaccination for TBE. The Kitzingen district is a TBE risk area. More information about why adequate protection against ticks is important and how to prepare can be found on the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) websites.
The TraumRunden routes partly run on narrow forest paths and in ascending terrain. The paths are therefore not suitable for strollers and walkers. We ask for your understanding.
Roadbook
The path starts in Castell (1) at the town exit towards Greuth, passes the fire station, and then runs left towards the sports field. Opposite, the princely castle garden (2) invites to extensive walks and can be visited up to below the castle.
From the sports home, the path leads to the Kneipp facility (3), which offers cooling on hot days, passes the former Casteller swimming pool at the spring Gründleinsloch. The path crosses the district road and reaches the vineyards of Hohnhart with a wonderful view of Castell with church, castle, and castle ruins on the Schlossberg. An old vineyard hut (4) invites you to rest.
The wine village Greuth (5) is bypassed, then the ascent begins through the vineyards to the Steigerwald height. On the high plateau in front of the forest, a resting place (6) with a view into the Steigerwald foreland and into the Main valley is reached.
The further path leads through extensive beech and oak forests in a semicircle along the Steigerwald edge towards Wüstenfelden, then past the Tränksee (7), to a forest parking lot above Castell. After crossing the town road, one reaches the remains of the two historic Casteller castles. The extensive rampart and moat systems are still clearly visible today. The outstanding “Most Beautiful Wine View of Germany 2012” (8) offers a wide view over the Casteller vineyard sites.
Along a narrow forest path along the old ramparts, it goes to the ruins of the Castell castle on the Schlossberg (9). From now on, the hike only leads downhill back to Castell (1).
