After the light forest, cross the lift line of the Neugarten lift and proceed with a gentle ascent towards the Alpengasthof Pacheiner until you cross the Gerlitzen summit road and reach the Himmelspirale, a perfect place to pause and take a breath. Then continue lightly descending towards Bergeralm through the bright larch trees which defy the elements summer and winter in the "alpine combat zone."
The ÖAV Trail No. 176 is crossed, and at a steady altitude, you cross the gentle sunny slope heading southeast. Looking up left towards the summit, the German Tower (Stone Tower) stands out. This tower was built in 1943 by the German Air Force and today belongs to the observatory on Kanzelhöhe. The dome was never placed due to the end of the war and remained packed in the delivered boxes.
The path now continues to the source of the Finsterbach, which forms waterfalls up to 34 meters high over three rock steps in the valley near Sattendorf. After a slight ascent, you walk onto the Jakobsleiter above Bergeralm. A magnificent view towards Carinthian lowlands opens up to the hiker. From here, follow the ridge (Trail No. 73).
After the first terrain step, you pass through the Greeting to Tibet, followed by a landscape picture frame and the weather cross. The weather cross marks the intersection of the municipalities of Arriach, Steindorf, and Treffen and was often established as a trigonometrical survey point in the past. A look through the Viscope experience telescope also reveals the names of the surrounding mountains.
From here, the starting point of the 360-degree panoramic route at the Summit Lift Mountain Station (Trail No. 175) is soon reached.
