Walk in the footsteps of our ancestors and discover a natural area marked by traces of their life shared between villages, mountain pastures, and alpine meadows, a "remuage" that allowed them to work the land following the vegetation cycle.

This route connecting Crans-Montana to Salquenen offers you the chance to discover the reality, not so distant but almost forgotten, of the inhabitants of these valleys who have domesticated this part of the Alps over the centuries. Dedicated to remuage, the local name for transhumance, it includes a stop at each stage where peasants used to rest throughout the year. The role of each place, the activities that took place there, as well as one of the products of the work of the Valaisans of old, are presented here.

    Author’s recommendation

At station 5, the Colombire alpine ecomuseum, dedicated to remuage, presents you with other facets of life in the past. You can also taste various traditional local dishes here.
