The upper Kirnitzschtal valley is a pearl for every nature lover. The stream flows through the meadows in gentle meanders. This tour suggestion avoids the hustle and bustle of the upper lock in high season.
From the parking lot in Hinterhermsdorf, we first hike southeast towards Obere Schleuse, but soon turn right to Königsplatz (marked with a red line). The view of the rocks and the vast forests is truly royal. Below the view are three climbing peaks, the Dreibrüdersteine.Following the red markings to Wettinplatz, we pass through the Schweinslöcher, which have been so called since time immemorial because of the large population of wild boar. We descend via the Hermannseck. To the right, we follow the blue line markings to Wolfsschlucht gorge. Up to here, this part of the Kirnitzschtal valley is a strict reserve. This applies in particular to the gorge below the path. We reach the Kirnitzsch through a rock tunnel and a few steps. There are some huge spruce trees right next to the stream.
