A contrast in landscapes that could hardly be greater. Forest floors carpeted with blueberries, lively Black Forest streams, unspoiled hiking trails—some with an alpine feel—a wooden boardwalk across the Hornisgrinde plateau, and a rocky descent. All of this awaits you on this magnificent loop hike—one you’re sure to enjoy.
From the northwestern edge at the Seibelseckle parking lot, 956 m, below the ski slope, we turn onto the forest trail—which is closed to vehicles—that leads down into the forest behind a gate and is marked with a yellow diamond. At first, we hike northward—the wide forest trail leads into the national park. At the Pommertsbrunnen spring, 920 m, we enter a water-rich area, and the babbling Kesselbach stream accompanies us briefly downhill. As far as the eye can see, blueberry fields stretch out to the left and right of the trail. We are surrounded by a peaceful forest idyll. At the Untergrinden signpost, 886 m, a sweeping view opens up into the upper Langenbach Valley, but we turn left, following the yellow diamond, and head up to Hinterer Brand, 915 m. A very steep mountain trail, marked with the Seensteig symbol, leads left up to a bench at 970 m, where you can enjoy a fantastic view of the National Park’s forests.
