To the Devil's Bridge near Saalfeld
On beautiful paths, you enter wonderful nature that you wouldn't expect so close to a bigger city. Through an enchanting-looking gorge, we reach heights with distant views. A special highlight is the "Devil's Bridge," a rock arch that served as shelter in the Stone Age. In the Bohlenwand nature reserve, the return route takes us along a steep cliff that drops almost vertically 100 meters down to the Saale.
At the roundabout in front of Saalfeld station, we follow the signs to "Rudolstadt" as well as at the second roundabout. After crossing the tracks, the sign "Güterbahnhof" points us to the right, and immediately after, we turn left onto "Hinterm Bahnhof" street. Behind the right curve, we take the branching path to the left and initially orient ourselves with the red triangle marking. Just after the bridge over a narrow ditch, we choose the right path paved with concrete slabs, later with grid stones. At its end, we turn right onto a short path and follow an asphalted section, cross the street, and keep left directly in front of the garages. A hollow way leads us through the gorge and we ignore numerous branches, cross a driveway, and pass a picnic bench. At the second driveway, we turn right and let the red circle marking guide us. After about 200 meters, behind the elevated water tank on the right, we choose the meadow path to the left, the Three-Cities-Way. Soon after, we reach the
