Our route to Chorillo del Salto starts just north of the center of El Chaltén, in the province of Santa Cruz, on the edge of the famous Los Glaciares National Park. The route is family-friendly, mostly flat and well-marked. The Chorillo del Salto is just a few kilometers outside the village and is one of the most popular destinations for short hikes in the area. The path quickly leads us from the open outskirts of the village into the wind-protected Patagonian mixed forest. Along the way, we are accompanied by dense stands of lenga and Ñire trees, which glow with an impressive play of colors in autumn. The vegetation provides shade and protection from the often strong Patagonian wind - a real advantage in this region. With a bit of luck, Andean condors and guanacos can also be spotted.
