We start at the Kronenlift in Nesselwang and hike through the forest toward Kappeler Alp. The path runs on steps beside the Schloßbächel. Along the way, we pass the ruins of Nesselburg, the Lower Alp, and the pilgrimage church Maria Trost, until we finally reach Kappeler Alp at 1335 meters. Here we find the first place to stop for refreshments and a magnificent view of Füssen with its lakes.
We continue southwest and eventually reach the Sportheim Böck, our second place to stop. Straight ahead past the top station of the Alpspitzbahn and the Alpspitz panoramic hut, the trail continues toward Edelsberg/Alpspitz. At some point, the hiking path turns south to Edelsberg. Here we follow the path to our right toward the summit cross of Alpspitz, where it gets briefly a little more rugged again.
The view from the summit reaches as far as Grünten and the Nagelfluh chain. At our feet lies the tranquil Nesselwang and the Alpspitzbahn ski area. After enjoying the view, we descend via the west ridge. Through a forest, we hike to Bayerstetter Alp and the Enzianstüble at the middle station. Left of the Alpspitzbahn, the trail continues downward toward Bayerstetten. At the valley station of the Alpspitzbahn, we walk across the parking lot back to our starting point at the Kronenlift.
