This leisurely hike leads us on well-developed, partly paved hiking trails from Bad Hindelang over the Bildstöckle to Tiefenbacher Eck. Along the way, we cross wide meadows as well as dense woods and repeatedly enjoy the magnificent view of the striking peaks of the Allgäu Alps and the broad valleys around Sonthofen. Past the Karl-Hüller-Hütte, it finally goes back down into the valley.

We start this very scenic hike at the tourist information in Bad Hindelang and orient ourselves towards the town center. We walk to the church and follow Kirchstraße westward until we turn right into Gailenbergstraße towards Gailenberg. After about 45 minutes, at an altitude of about 1000 m, we reach the village of Gailenberg. After taking a look inside the chapel of St. Sylvester, we head uphill across meadows. Our route bends right before Schachentobel and a few hundred meters later turns left again. Then we proceed steadily uphill on the hiking trail through forest and meadows. Along this stretch, we are repeatedly treated to great views of the Allgäu Alps to the south. After a while, we finally reach a paved road that leads us on the right to the 1329 m high Bildstöckle. There we join the Maximiliansweg (E4), which takes us eastward along a ridge to Tiefenbacher Eck. There, at an altitude of 1525 m, a panoramic map explains all the mountain peaks from Zugspitze to Säntis, before we follow our narrow path to the eastward Baoleskopf. After a break, it goes downhill again. At the unattended Karl-Hüller-Hütte, we orient ourselves right and descend in a wide arc—passing the so-called “Weißen Platte”—to the Höfle-Alpe, where we meet the road leading down to the valley. After a while, we join Gailenbergstraße and follow it back to the starting point.
