Touristik & Freizeit Sankt Wendeler Land
The Tiefenbach Path winds through an enchanted brook valley, offering mystical giant trees, regional products, challenging sections, an old quarry, and mighty viewing platforms. In the land of Saint Wendelin, silence, untouched nature, and magical places are true hallmarks.
The newly created "Tiefenbach Path" around St. Wendel's local mountain Bosenberg skillfully mixes picturesque spots, pristine natural beauty, and almost spiritual passages into a highly attractive hiking cocktail that was worth 84 experience points according to the German Hiking Institute's assessors.
Author’s recommendation
After hiking the Tiefenbach Path, you should definitely take some time for a small city tour. Worth seeing is the late Gothic basilica from the 15th century, where the bones of Saint Wendelinus are interred in a high tomb at the altar. The medieval character of St. Wendel's town center is cozy, with street cafes, pubs, and shops.

Attention:
Entering the forest and walking the hiking trails is fundamentally at your own risk!
Depending on season and weather, certain sections require increased surefootedness. Please wear clothing and hiking boots appropriate for the season and weather with suitable soles. Be alert for falling branches and damaged trees. In strong wind and in winter, snow and ice increase the danger of falling trees and dropping branches.

Roadbook
We start at the forest car park at Wendelinushof, the former farm of the Steyler missionaries, which is still farmed today. Here you have the opportunity to stock up on tasty products from the region for the upcoming route. Then we go around the densely wooded, 485-meter-high Bosenberg. Along the Rumbach, we walk through a deep small ravine until we turn left at a hunting lodge into an old abandoned quarry, which today is a habitat for many warmth-loving animal and plant species. The place is not only picturesque; it also demands some climbing through mighty rock formations.
After passing the quarry, we turn left, first through forest, then over open fields up to a natural monument of a special kind: the Leitersweiler beeches. The gnarled, approximately 250 to 300-year-old giant trees invite you to rest. At the Bergmannsbrunnen, whose water still bubbles as clearly as when the miners quenched their thirst on their way to work, there is another opportunity to rest. Along the Tiefenbach through a beautiful valley, we cross the country road and go to the elevation of the Fledemauskopf. Here we again enjoy a magnificent panoramic view. Those who continue along the Tiefenbach Path will encounter two idyllic ravines before we meet the panorama path. From there, there is a wide view into the St. Wendel basin. The fabulous route ends at Wendelinushof with its inviting beer garden.
