The Throne Route leads from Gottlieben to Diessenhofen along Lake Untersee and the Rhine. Along the way, you can enjoy magnificent views from specially designed seating arrangements.
The Throne Route at Lake Untersee is an impressive journey. It covers 45 kilometers from Gottlieben to Diessenhofen. For necessary rest breaks, 12 creatively designed seating spots are provided, all situated at beautiful viewpoints. The first throne stands right at the start in Gottlieben: the Reading Lounge. With suitable literature, you can get in the mood for the walk, and then set off: passing Triboltingen and the lovely Ermatingen to Berlingen. There you can sit on a carved bench directly by the water before the Throne Route reaches its peak. The section via Wysse Felsen and Jochental, with a beautifully located inn, is likely one of the most beautiful parts of this hike. Other highlights include Arenenberg Castle, the charming Steckborn where you can rest on a wave-shaped bench, the Hochwacht viewpoint above Mammern, the island of Werd shortly before Stein am Rhein, and at the destination the town of Diessenhofen with its historic wooden bridge.
