The third day of the Three-Lakes Route leads first from the Albert-Link-Hut along the magnificent Spitzingsee and then comfortably up over the Lower Firstalm to the summit of the Bodenschneid. From there, the path leads downhill to Enterrottach, the endpoint of this three-day route.

On the third day of the Three-Lakes Route, there is a little more uphill at first. The summit of the Bodenschneid is today's truly worthwhile mountain goal. Along the way, you will be enchanted by the picturesque beautiful Spitzingsee, and halfway there you can strengthen yourself one more time at the Firstalm for the last meters uphill.

And then you are at the top and will be amazed! From the Bodenschneid you not only enjoy a fantastic view of the numerous Prealpine peaks. Even better: At your feet glistens the kitschily beautiful Tegernsee – a magnificent viewpoint!

Even if saying goodbye here at the top is so hard: eventually, you will comfortably descend to Enterrottach and return relaxed by bus and train back to Munich.

    Author’s recommendation

The Three-Lakes Route is a true pleasure route where the focus is less on alpine skills but rather on the experience. If your heart beats more for somewhat more challenging routes: just take a look at www.huettentrekking.de. Until we have these routes also posted in this forum, you will find seven more route tips for hut-to-hut hikes there as well as the corresponding route information available for download.

Route Sketch: Albert-Link-Hut – Lower Firstalm – Bodenschneid – Enterrottach

Well rested and strengthened by the hearty breakfast at the Albert-Link-Hut, you walk along the slightly ascending road to Spitzingsee and along its western shore to the valley station of the curve lift (not in summer operation). From here west on the road up to the Lower Firstalm (1318 m) and left parallel to the Firstalmlift (no summer operation) up the grass hollow into the wooded saddle below the Suttenstein. Follow the signpost "Bodenschneid" to the right (northwest) onto the wooded ridge and over this, finally over open terrain, to the rocky summit of the Bodenschneid (1667 m).

Cross the summit and then immediately turn left down the steep west slope in many switchbacks to the Boden-Alm. Keeping left, cross the clearing of the alm halfway until the path to Enterrottach branches right. From here, continue down to the toll road into the Valepp and parallel to the road on a beautiful forested hiking trail along the Rottach out to Enterrottach and the bus stop.
