Closed-toe shoes are a good idea. That way, dirt and small stones won't get into your shoes! Hiking poles can also be helpful!Tips and suggestions
Roadbook
You can start the 10.5-km loop hike at the parking lot by the community center in Miehlen. Walk straight ahead for a long stretch past the back of the community center along Krämergasse into Aftholderbacher Straße, which you follow until it joins the main road between Miehlen and
Bettendorf. Here, walk just a short distance to the right and then turn left onto the dirt road. The route leads past the Schinderhannes Cave, always following the Ramersbach stream, until you reach Bettendorf via Mühlweg. Then follow Miehlener and Nastätter Straße to the right, turn left onto Altenborn, and continue straight ahead along Pohler Weg, past the Sonnenhof dressage stable, always straight ahead until you reach Taunusstraße in Pohl, which you follow to the left until you reach the Pohl cemetery.
Shortly past the cemetery, turn left; at the next fork, stay right on the paved path and cross the Hauserbach. Then turn right and follow the path through the Hauserbach Valley as it descends, past the Hauserbachsee until the path joins the L323 between Miehlen and Hunzel. Here, turn left onto the L323 toward Miehlen; it’s just a short distance along the road to the parking lot between the soccer field and the community center in Miehlen. Other starting points are available in Bettendorf or Pohl!
If this loop is still too short for you, you can extend it to 12 km by taking a detour through Obertiefenbach in Bettendorf. In Bettendorf, instead of turning left onto Altenborn, continue along Nastätter Straße until the road “Brandholz’” turns left uphill; then follow the Loreley-Aar Bike Trail, which runs parallel to the road, all the way to Obertiefenbach. At the entrance to the village, turn left onto the Limes Bike and Hiking Trail and follow it past the Obertiefenbach cemetery to the Limes fort in Pohl. From here, continue along Kirchstraße (crossing the B260) onto Taunusstraße until you reach the Pohl cemetery. Here you rejoin the shorter 10.5-km route, which you then follow downhill through the Hauserbach Valley to Miehlen.
