Several paths through the forest lead to the ruin and the former castle. The discovery route leads us further uphill, and we look for the summit of the Hohe Wacht. We find a chapel, a small settlement, and a nice descent path back. Many columbines on the ascent to the Hohe Wacht.

We hike along the Schlossweg (service road) to the first right turn onto a forest path. We follow this until we meet the service road again. From here, several trails continue. We chose the steepest uphill; via a beautiful forest path, we reach another service road. Keeping to the right, we come to the castle gate. The castle and the ruin are not accessible. Observe the no-entry prohibition. Along the castle wall, later uphill on the slope, we reach a ridge. From here the tower can be seen.
We follow the trail tracks along the ridge, a wonderful walk in the forest. At the agricultural road we meet, we keep right again. Up to the barrier, here the trail goes uphill until we meet service and agricultural roads again. Just before this junction, below the trail and visible from it, there is a chapel and a rest area.
From the junction, we choose the uphill agricultural road, already quite overgrown, and finally go pathless to the summit of the Hohe Wacht. Then return the same way to the junction. Downhill on the service road into the settlement of Grub. Shortly after a small chapel on the left side of the road, a meadow path branches off to the right; keeping left by the barn, always downhill to Thernberg.
