The Schwarzwassertal is one of the most wild and romantic of the Erzgebirge. That alone makes the charm of the hike and could be enough as a recommendation. But we can also use this route to look around there, where once, starting in the late Middle Ages, a foundation was laid for the wealth of Saxony. Significant sights of Dresden and much of what we admire today in the towns of the Erzgebirge would be unthinkable without the ore, especially the silver from the mountains. Many places, including Pobershau, only came into existence because of mining. Traces of this can be found in many places. You can “dive” into the history of mining under expert guidance in the visitor mine.
