The old Aldein path leads from Aldein down to Branzoll.
The start of the old Aldein path is in the village center of Aldein. Always following trail no. 6, it goes down to Branzoll into the valley floor of the Lower Adige region. Almost 1,000 meters of altitude must be descended. Until 1958, this path was the only connection from Aldein to the outside world. The old Aldein path has been relocated several times during its history. Until about 200 years ago, its route was steeply straight down to the Halbweg inn, also called "Kössler." Back then, the path was built on the right side of the mountain down to the Wiedenbach, crossed the Winkler bridge, and finally reached the Halbweg inn. In 1874, 200 m of the path were blasted into the rock and thus relocated to the left side of the mountain. Today, a cross and the year recall this event. Previously, if someone required medical help, they were carried down to the Lower Adige in a so-called "Penne," a large basket.
