Möhnesee and the Arnsberger Wald Nature Park are resonant names. The Möhnesee dam, named after the small Möhne, was inaugurated in 1913. The Arnsberger Wald Nature Park, whose forest sea covers an area of 460 sq km, was founded in 1961. The history of the Arnsberger Forest is over 1,000 years old. The management of the forest played an important role in these ten centuries. The history of the forest workers is part of this. The tour even touches two settlements with Breitenbruch and Neuhaus, whose origins lie in the history of forest worker settlements. Hevesee and Hevearm, the shorter of the two arms of the Möhnesee and fed by the Heve, are significant nature reserves and, like the Möhnesee itself, a European bird sanctuary. Anyone who finishes the tour in Westphalia's most beautiful beer garden, an extremely romantically designed flower and sculpture garden in the Torhaus country hotel, will have much to tell.
