The starting point of this quiet and little-frequented circular hike is the Kronen Hütte hiking car park in Falkenstein. From here we follow the signs for the Pfälzer Höhenweg to the Kronbuchenhütte, which we reach after 1.1 km. We walk a further 0.7 km on the Pfälzer Höhenweg to the Grohes Rondell junction. From here we follow the White Cross, pass the Hohenfels castle ruins, and reach the Beutelfels with the Iron Man after 1.5 km. Here you can enjoy the wonderful view over the Palatinate Forest. We descend 1.5 km via Löwenbergs-Ruhe and Rote Halde to the visitor mine Weiße Grube.
From Weiße Grube it goes to the Imsbach barbecue hut (0.4 km) where we meet the Pfälzer Höhenweg again, which leads us uphill to the Kupferberghütte (1.2 km). The hut offers a nice view for a rest including refreshments, usually served on Sundays and public holidays.
We leave it behind with a bend below to the Kühunter junction and follow the Pfälzer Höhenweg over the Elsenbrünnchen to the Friedrichsstollen (1.5 km). There we change to path K-2, which leads us past the Theodorschacht and the Teufelsstollen to the Katharina I and II pits (1 km). From there we ascend Katharinental following the White Dot to the Dicke Eiche junction (1 km).
The green-yellow bar marking leads us from here to Falkenstein, past the Protestant bell tower, to our starting point (2.6 km).
