The four-kilometer-long drive on the narrow and winding road to the Glaswaldsee parking lot is breathtaking by itself. It starts in the Wolftal near Vor Seebach, between Bad Rippoldsau and Schapbach. The path to the parking lot is well signposted. The Glaswaldsee is one of the typical cirque lakes in the Northern Black Forest, even though today the water is collected by a dam. The lake is fed by a mountain stream and an underground spring. Its name still recalls the glass bottles once made in the villages of the Wolftal.
Accompanied by the rushing Seebach stream, we hike from the parking lot at Glaswaldsee, 715 m, behind a barrier into the forest. The wide gravel path leads moderately steeply to the crossing Langengrundweg, which we follow to the left over the Seebach. Attention, already 50 m after the Seeloch, 757 m, we turn sharply right! The blue diamond marks the way to the Glaswaldsee, 840 m, 600 m away. The idyllic body of water has been under nature protection for decades. Upon reaching the lakeshore, we follow the wonderful hiking trail along the left bank, ignoring the left turn that will later be our return path. Below the rock-strewn cirque wall, we circle around the dark-colored lake, which covers an area of about 2.7 ha and has a depth of up to 11 m. On the northwest shore, you can take a break at the small wooden lake hut, 840 m, built in 1977. After the hut break, we follow the well-trodden path that leads romantically around the lake. At the fork, we continue half-left on the forest
