The Feuersengköpfl Loop

From the marketplace in Werfen, you walk down Tränkasse towards the river (Salzach). Passing the shuttle bus parking lot for the Eisriesenwelt buses on the left, follow the river towards the castle, which stands directly in front of you on the castle hill. Before the castle hill, turn right and cross the bridge over the Salzach river. Then continue left. After a few meters, you can see the highway bridge above you, turn left and follow path No. 11 towards Zetzenberg. Now you walk a good stretch parallel below the highway track. Shortly before Zetzenberg, go under the highway and through the forest towards Zetzenberg, always following path No. 11. After about half an hour, turn left again, pass the highway track once more, and you can see the first houses of Tenneck. Shortly before the river, make a sharp right turn and then left over the large bridge into the center of Tenneck. Once there, walk a little on the left along the federal road, still following path No. 11, until after the large parking lot. Or you can take a short break in Tenneck, e.g., at the Gasthaus zum Eisenwerk on Kohlplatzstraße or at the bakery in the town center (both closed on Sundays). After the large parking lot, turn right towards Maisbauer and from there uphill through the forest towards Schartenbauer. After a few minutes, you reach a crossroads: if you go straight ahead, it goes towards Dielalm on path 401 (Dielalm closed Tuesday and Wednesday!); if you turn sharply left at the crossroads, you stay on path No. 11 b towards Feuersengköpfl. Now you make a big loop around the transmission mast through the forest towards Riesengut. Shortly after the Riesengut farm, go down left and reach the center of Werfen in half an hour on path No. 11. If you turned off to Dielalm, you can reach the town center in less than an hour via path 401.
